Since 2007, Dr. Liren Liao has served as a full-time attending physician in the ENT Department at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital and pursued doctoral studies at the Institute of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, National Taiwan University. He actively conducts research on head and neck cancers, participating in the GEV-NPC Study Group led by Premier Chen Chien-jen, investigating the relationship between genes, environment, EBV virus, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Results have been published in major international journals. Dr. Liao emphasizes not only patient survival but also quality of life. Due to the prevalence of head and neck cancers in Taiwan, he accepted the invitation of Professor Lou Pei-ren, former president of the Taiwan Head and Neck Oncology Society, to serve as Secretary-General of the society, promoting academic development and international collaboration. He also serves as Deputy Secretary-General of the Taiwan Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, continuing to advance public health initiatives. With the prevalence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and the limitations of current treatments, he has applied for multiple internal and Ministry of Science and Technology research projects, developing new treatments for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Notably, his team received the 2022 19th National Innovation Award for “Intelligent Immune Monitoring and Personalized B2:C29 Immune Cell Therapy for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma” in collaboration with Dr. Qiu Yan-lin and Fuhe Biomedical.
